The days of T-Mobile's G1 being the only Android-powered phone on the planet are about to come to a screeching halt.

HTC's soon-to-be-released Hero (hitting Europe via T-Mobile in July, but not making it to the states until late 2009) ups the Android ante by offering the Sense widget-based interface, as well as Scenes (a way to group apps related to business, recreation, etc.).  There's also a 5MP camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, trackball, multitouch and anti-fingerprint coating -- even a layer of Teflon on the white edition!  It's almost like someone threw an iPhone, a Blackberry, and a G1 into a blender and sifted out the best features of each.
