It's Hard to Decide Which Update to Pick
I think I'm seeing double, or maybe even triple or quadruple.
We never had this problem until now, after updating to 2.0.1.
Let us know if you're having the same issue after updating your iPhone to the 2.0.1 upgrade.

I had that problem today, and I haven't updated my iPhone yet to 2.0.1. Seems to be an unrelated problem.

I actually had this before I updated to 2.0.1 .....but I did not see it before today.

Before the update, I had this issue as well. I am at the moment updating to 2.0.1 and before doing an update, I did check to see whether there was any new updates for apps. I got exactly (well not exactly the same apps) but got the duplicates as well.
Of course, I didn't update, I figured, let me update to 2.0.1 and then try to do an app update again.

Am I the only one not having an iPhone?

Can't you just click "Upgrade All" and be done with it?

I had this happen yesterday, with my iPod touch on 2.0 as well. It's probably a problem with the app store, not the iPhones themselves.

I had this problem before updating to 2.01. I think it started when Apple pushed out the iTunes update last week...

I'm having the same problem with firmware 2.0. This is not related to firmware 2.0.1 or the new iTunes 7.7.1.11 update.

happened to me too, after upgrading to 2.0.1. I just deleted all apps from my library, synced my phone, and transferred them back to iTunes. Problem solved.
Also, DO NOT click Update All. It will download all the duplicates and things will fuck up.

yeah - I just upgraded yesterday and today I started seeing multiple apps all over the place.

This seems to be a wider OSX issue. Often times when I'm importing files into iTunes or copying from a disk image, there will be duplicates and sometime triplicates created. It's really annoying since I've been transferring my music archive from an old computer to have to manually delete thousands of duplicates.
I hope they fix this soon. Seems like a fundamental and annoying if not critical flaw.

I had this problem all the time long before updating to 2.0.1. it's unrelated

I had this problem before upgrading to 2.0.1. I installed all of the updates (duplicates included) and did not have any continuing issue.

Just hit the "update all" button! Seriously, it just updates each app once and off you go.

Can we talk about the really annoying fact the every single frickin' time you update an app, ALL your apps on are shuffled out of place on your Home Screen???! ARGGHHHH!!!!!
Posted by: Brooks | August 06, 2008 at 04:45 PM
I had this problem several time before upgrading. It would also show apps that didn't need to be updated at all. I would have a page full of icons but the number beside applications in the sidebar of iTunes would say like 1 or 2.

The index of updates seems to have dupes in you directory. You just might want to add the updates that are displayed first.

As an iPod Touch user with the 2.0 Firmware update since day 1, and I can say that I have always seen my updates like this. Usually 2-4 icons per app per update. It bugs me, and a lot of the times iTunes asks if I want to download the same update numerous times.

I'm having the same issue with my Touch
Posted by: Alan Bradford | August 06, 2008 at 08:36 PM
It's not a firmware issue, it's an iTunes issue (i'm having the same thing happen but i have yet to update my phone)
Posted by: BJ | August 06, 2008 at 08:56 PM
Yeah, I've got it too. Really annoying because the App store always says I have an update for AIM.
