Analysis:

The Sports Tap home screen presents iPhone style buttons for your various sports. The red numbers at the top right corner of buttons indicate the number of live games at the moment. As you can see here, there is 1 MLB game and 1 PGA game currently.

Purpose: Like soccer? Love soccer? iLiveScore provides an iPhone web app which allows you to view live soccer scores from games around the globe. Rejoice soccer-fan-iPhone-users.

Analysis:

Once you access the site you are presented with the following screen:

As you can see, the games are divided by nation and by league.

Make sure you go to Settings and "Turn On Auto Refresh"

When you click on a game, you are brought to a chat screen. The purpose of the chat screen is to "cheer your team", but we all know it will be used to trash talk the other team.

The Verdict:

Once again, a web app which boasts simplicity. However, they could have included some links to team information, league standings, and team schedules. A few graphics wouldn't hurt.

But if you're looking for some straight up soccer scores, this is the place to go.

Purpose: Displays the Periodic Table of Elements on your iPhone. The app is packed with lots of detailed information on each element.

Analysis:

When you first open the program, you're taken to a List format with the elements' names listed.

You can switch to "Symbols"

You can click on an element to get some extremely detailed data.(anything from the atomic weight to the discovery date to the heat of molar fusion to the first molar ionization energy and much much more)

You can sort elements based on an assortment of characteristics:

Turn your phone horizontally and hit table for a full screen periodic table. Each element is clickable.

Taking a chemistry class? You'll LOVE this.

This app is practically a must have for any student.

The Verdict:  Sure there's plenty of you out there who haven't seen one of these since high school. But you know deep down inside you have a nostalgic feeling that's just begging to be quenched with some good ole periodic table browsing. And next time you have that feeling and your General Chemistry book isn't around, pull out your iPhone and visit your Periodic Table app.

And if you're in any type of chemistry class, then you cannot survive without this.

Analysis:

This web app boasts an extremely simple and easy to use interface. Don't waste time navigating movie.com while being bombarded with an army of ads, and don't trouble yourself by calling MoviePhone.

Simple open up your Cinema web app, enter:

1. Film (film title optional just in case you don't know what you wanna see)

2. Location (zip code)

Remember, search with or without a film title.

Hit search and..Ta Da. You get a list of movie theatres.

Select a movie theatre, and then list through the movies and showtimes.

Wonder what the movie is about? Tap the title.

Cinema automatically presents you with the: running time, rating, category.

Furthermore, you are presented with 4 options:

1. Apple.com's Trailer

2. The film's IMDB Page

3. Other places showing this title

4. Email to a friend

If you searched without a film title and then selected a movie theatre, this is how the list of films shows up. 

The Verdict:  This app serves it's function perfectly. When you're checking showtimes on your iPhone - you're on the go. And when you're on the go, you have no time to be climbing through webs to finally get a showtime. Simplicity is key - and Cinema's got it.
